Prince Edward Island is the land of the Mi'kmaqs who called the island Epekwik, which roughly translates to lying on the water, or land cradled in the waves. With 23 beaches sprawling over 800km of the coast line, you can find varieties from soft white sand to deep reds, and of course iconic lighthouses that the Maritimes are known for. Agriculture thrives here with soil that is red due to a high iron-oxide content. Confederation bridge connects this province to Nova Scotia, but it can be reached by ferry or flight. PEI is a relatively small and quiet province, with their economy largely based around fisheries, agriculture and summer tourism. However as the population continues to grow it has seen more business opportunities in aerospace, bioscience, IT and renewable energy.

Prince Edward Island offers several programs that can help you with your immigration goals, if settling in this province is what you are aiming for. Typically, if you meet the criteria of a below program, you can enter a profile in the Prince Edward Island Expression of Interest system. Your profile will be valid here for six months, during which time you may be invited to apply for a nomination from PEI. Draws usually happen once a month, and if invited your next step will be to submit your application to the PEI PNP. This application will be reviewed, and successful candidates can apply to IRCC for permanent residency with a PEI nomination.
